The Boreal Information Centre is an information warehouse offering map-based data themes and summaries to aide in land-use and conservation planning of North American boreal forests.

The mission of the Boreal Information Centre is: To provide objective, high-quality data and information to support North American boreal forest conservation and management.

The data and information that can be reviewed and downloaded at this site are available on an ecoregion-basis, according to a common ecological framework. This ecosystem focus differs from the political and administrative focus of most land-use and conservation data and information.

The Boreal Information Centre is a collaborative effort of a numerous groups and organizations (Centre partners), and is guided by an advisory group of natural resource and conservation professionals.

Partners and users of the Centre include the conservation community, forest product suppliers and buyers, energy firms, lending institutions, aboriginal peoples, government agencies, academics, and others. The data will assist these users in making policy and management decisions that will protect the ecological integrity of the boreal forest. The Centre’s technical work is led by Global Forest Watch Canada and the Conservation Biology Institute.
